TEIN’s General Assembly was held on 6th September 2023 at the European University Viadrina, situated on the German-Polish border, where the UPS-CESCI Research Group of Cross-Border Cooperation, as a member of TEIN was represented by Dr. Zsuzsanna Fejes. This annual gathering of TEIN members serves as a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange, and this year’s assembly was particularly special, taking place within the framework of the international conference “Contesting 21st Century B/Orders” organised by the Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION in cooperation with TEIN and “Borders in Globalization – 21st Century borders (BIG).“
During the assembly, both in-person and remote attendees had the opportunity to present their ongoing or recently completed projects in their respective border regions, fostering dialogue on current challenges and future project ideas. One noteworthy project discussed was the EU-funded Jean-Monnet-Network FRONTEM (Frontières en mouvement: quels modèles pour l’UE?), which concluded recently and engaged several TEIN partners, including CESCI. Over the years, TEIN members have actively shared their insights and practices concerning the management and perception of various European borders. This collaboration has led to valuable outcomes, including a platform dedicated to border perception and a toolkit offering comprehensive insights into five different border regions, each with its unique issues, practices, and challenges.
Additionally, the TEIN network warmly welcomed a new member, the Ukrainian Research Institute of European Territorial Cooperation of Uzhhorod National University, situated on the Slovak-Ukrainian border.
